The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and The Bachelor of Education Course - what is the connection?
Each unit within the Bachelor of Education addresses a number of the AITSL Standards. These standards are articulated in the Course Overview and described in each Unit Outline. It is anticipated that all standards will be addressed multiple times as you progress through your course.
It is important as you progress through your course to be aware of what Standards are being addressed in each Unit and take the opportunity to collect examples / evidence that support each standard to be placed in your professional portfolio.

What are Australian Professional Standards for Teachers?
The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (The Standards) is a public statement of what constitutes teacher quality. The Standards define the work of teachers and make explicit the elements of high-quality, effective teaching in 21st-century schools, which result in improved educational outcomes for students. The Standards do this by providing a framework that makes clear the knowledge, practice and professional engagement required across teachers' careers. They present a common understanding and language for discourse between teachers, teacher educators, teacher organisations, professional associations and the public.
The Standards were developed by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) who provides national leadership for the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments in promoting excellence in the profession of teaching and school leadership.
